Installation | Approve CheckOP from the Google Admin Console

Introduction

If your organization manages Android Enterprise devices using the Google Admin Console, you can control which apps are available to users in the organization.

In order for users to install CheckOP on a managed device, the administrator must approve it and make it available to the appropriate users or devices.

Important: This configuration must be performed by the organization's IT administrator. If CheckOP is not available to the user, attempting to install it directly from Google Play will not resolve the issue.

Before You Begin

Before proceeding with the setup, verify that:

  • The organization has Android Enterprise set up.
  • Your organization has a managed Google domain.
  • You have an account with sufficient permissions to manage Android Enterprise and apps.
  • The devices are properly enrolled in Android Enterprise management.

Google states that organizations that enroll in Android Enterprise starting in 2024 receive a managed Google domain, which allows them to manage Android Enterprise from the Google Admin Console

Note: If your organization uses a third-party EMM provider such as Microsoft Intune, Workspace ONE, Ivanti, or SOTI, Managed Google Play may be managed directly from that provider's console. In that case, refer to the guide for the provider you are using.

Pass CheckOP

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin Console with an administrator account.
  2. Go to the Android Enterprise / Managed Google Play administration section.
  3. Open the Managed Google Play app catalog.
  4. Search for CheckOP.
  5. Select the app.
  6. Select Approve.
  7. Review the requested permissions.
  8. Confirm the approval.

Google states that Managed Google Play administrators can manage apps approved for their organization and distribute Android apps internally.

Important: The exact location of Managed Google Play may vary depending on your organization's Android Enterprise settings. Google also allows EMM providers to integrate the Managed Google Play catalog directly into their own consoles.

Verify that CheckOP is available

Once the configuration is complete, verify the result from one of the managed devices.

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Sign in with the Google account managed by your organization.
  3. Go to the "Work apps" or "Managed apps" section.
  4. Search for CheckOP.
  5. Select the app.
  6. Make sure the Install button appears.
  7. Install the app.

Google states that approved apps appear to users in their managed Google Play account.

If CheckOP does not appear

If CheckOP has been approved but the user still can't find it, check:

  • That the application has been approved correctly.
  • That the user has access to the app.
  • That the device is properly managed through Android Enterprise.
  • That the user is using the appropriate managed Google account.
  • That the app has not been subsequently removed from the list of approved apps.

Google also notes that an app may be available to a user but not appear in the store’s visible layout or catalog. In that case, the user can find it by searching if they have access.

If the message "The administrator did not grant you access to this item" appears

This message means that the user does not have access to the application in the organization's administration settings.

In that case, the administrator should review the approval and the access assigned to CheckOP again.

If the problem persists after reviewing the settings, see:

Official information: See Google's documentation on managing Android Enterprise, Managed Google Play, and the apps available to users.

If CheckOP remains locked

"The administrator did not grant you access to this item"

check the following:

  • CheckOP was correctly added or approved in Managed Google Play.
  • The app was successfully added to the manager’s catalog or policy.
  • The user or device is included in the appropriate assignment.
  • The device is properly managed through Android Enterprise.
  • The policy or assignment is active.
  • The app is now available for the device.
